| Undefeated Steve Molitor Seeks Fifth Title Defence on Home Soil, Live on TSN and TSN HD, Friday |

TSN will produce and televise live coverage of Rumble at Rama V, as undefeated IBF World Junior Featherweight champion, ‘The Canadian Kid’ Steve Molitor, steps into the ring at Casino Rama to defend his title for the fifth time in 14 months. The highly-anticipated bout airs live on TSN and TSN HD on Friday, August 29 at 10:30 p.m. ET and will be available on-demand at TSN.ca following the conclusion of the live broadcast.
Molitor, a native of Sarnia, ON, enters the contest with a perfect 27-0 record (including 10 knockouts) and will face Ceferino Dario Labarda of Argentina. Labarda also comes into the fight sporting an undefeated record of 18-0 with seven wins coming by way of knockout. Rumble at Rama V will be Labarda’s first fight outside of Argentina.
Rod Black will be joined by TSN’s resident boxing expert and host of In This Corner, Russ Anber, who will serve as analyst alongside play-by-play man Joe Bowen. This marks the fifth Rumble at Rama event TSN has produced and televised.
The inaugural Rumble at Rama event took place in July 2007, when Molitor defeated Takalani ‘The Panther’ Ndlovu of South Africa in nine rounds to retain the IBF World Junior Featherweight title. In doing so, Molitor became the first Ontario-born boxer to defend a world championship title at home.
Three months later at Rumble at Rama II, Molitor successfully defended his title again by winning a unanimous decision over Thailand’s Narongrit Pirang, also known as Fashung 3K Battery, in a 12-round fight that went the distance. In January 2008, Molitor squared off against Mexico’s Ricardo ‘Piolo’ Castillo at Rumble at Rama III in a grueling 12-round match that ended in a unanimous decision.
Rumble at Rama IV, which took place earlier this year in April, featured Molitor taking on Fernando Beltran Jr. in a hard-fought 12-round battle that ended in a unanimous decision for the Canadian boxer, as he held on to his unblemished record and championship title.
Rumble at Rama V, which takes place at Casino Rama, in Rama, ON, also features a number of undercard bouts. The event is being promoted by Orion Sports Management.
Rumble at Rama V is part of an ongoing partnership between TSN and Casino Rama, which includes the previous four Rumble at Rama fights and the annual Casino Rama Curling Skins Game.
