Fall 2003 Highlights: ESPN Classic Canada

Highlights of the 2003-2004 season.

During the 2003-04 season, ESPN Classic Canada will continue to look back at the world’s all-time greatest sports moments with monumental games, great comebacks, controversial victories, huge upsets, career achievements, streaks, records and dynasties. Leading up to major events on the current sports calendar (i.e. the Masters, the World Series, etc.), ESPN Classic Canada will showcase classic moments from that event’s history with the following special theme weeks or weekends:

Classic PGA Championship Week (August 11-17, 2003)
Leading up to TSN’s PGA Championship coverage, ESPN Classic Canada takes fans back to some of the most unforgettable rounds from the 85-year-old tournament with Classic PGA Championship Week.

NFL Kickoff (September 1-3, 2003)
ESPN Classic Canada dusts off the NFL archives to prep football junkies for the upcoming NFL season with NFL Kickoff from September 1-3.

1993 Blue Jays Revisited (October 5-23)
October 2003 marks the 10-year anniversary of the second of back-to-back World Series wins for the Toronto Blue Jays – one of the most memorable events in Canadian sports history. ESPN Classic Canada will air the entire 1993 American League Championship Series (Jays vs. Chicago White Sox), followed by the 1993 World Series, as the Jays become repeat world champions after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies.

Classic Grey Cup Week (November 10-15, 2003)
ESPN Classic Canada will warm fans up for the 2003 Grey Cup with Classic Grey Cup Week, paying tribute to the most unforgettable moments from the history of this November football tradition.

Classic World Junior Week (December 15-21, 2003)
The IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship is an extremely popular holiday tradition for hockey fans from coast-to-coast. In December, ESPN Classic Canada’s Classic World Junior Week revisits the greatest teams and players that have laced up their skates in the annual competition.

Super Bowl Week (January 26-31, 2004)
In January, ESPN Classic Canada keeps football fans at the centre of the huddle leading up to Super Bowl XXXVIII with a look back at timeless, hard-hitting Super Bowl performances.

Heartbreak Weekend (February 13-15, 2004)
ESPN Classic Canada relives some of the most disheartening and shocking moments in sports with Heartbreak Weekend, featuring a collection of games that were lost on a last minute play.

Classic Masters Week (April 2004)
Classic Masters Week tees off on ESPN Classic Canada in April, preparing viewers for golf’s most prestigious event – the 2004 Masters Tournament. ESPN Classic Canada takes a look back at some of the greatest moments and memories from Augusta National Golf Course, including Canadian Mike Weir’s triumph in 2003.

Indy 500 Weekend (May 2004)
In May 2004, ESPN Classic Canada treats IRL fans to a weekend of classic Indy 500 races with Indy 500 Weekend, paying tribute to some of auto racing’s most celebrated superstars.

CFL Kickoff Week (June 2004)
ESPN Classic Canada suits up for the 2004 CFL season with CFL Kickoff Week, reliving some of the most intense and passionate match-ups from Canadian football history.
