on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 - 10:00 AM |
Highlights for the 2003-2004 season.
Currently airing 17 of the top 20 ranked kids shows in Canada, YTV will add more hot shows to the list with an exciting lineup that includes Jacob Two-Two, Mordecai Richler’s award-winning, best-selling book series, brought to life by the top animation studio Nelvana. In addition, YTV premieres the highly anticipated CGI animated series Spider-Man from Sony and Canada’s own Mainframe Entertainment. A new, Canadian live action teen series, Mental Block, joins the schedule providing a comic glimpse of what goes on inside an adolescent's mind, along with the animated action adventure series Martin Mystery, which follows a pair of teens investigating paranormal creatures from beyond. From Nickelodeon comes Rugrats: All Grown Up, a new, animated series featuring kids’ favourite ankle-biters, now diaper-less teens.
As family viewing continues to grow on YTV, the channel’s movie block, 3 Hairy Thumbs Up, expands this season with a new Saturday night film at 8 p.m., in addition to the existing Saturday and Sunday afternoon movie presentations. Viewers can expect to see more of the great films that families can enjoy together, such as It Takes Two, School Ties, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Richie Rich.

PREMIERING IN EARLY 2004:
Fries With That

Fries With That is about first jobs.More specifically it’s about a gang of teens who toil at a branch of Bulky’s,a fictional burger chain struggling to stay afloat in a market saturated with better-known
international fast food joints.Bulky’s is run almost exclusively by high school students but Pattie, Robyn, Tess and Alex have more important
things to concern themselves with besides flipping burgers:friends, dating, body image, school, parents, the in-crowd and out-crowd, fashion, sports, makeup and cars. The exception (there’s always an exception)is Ben,the assistant manager, who takes his job seriously—a little too seriously for rest of the burger gang.
Phunkee Zee
Phunkee Zee combines live action and game animation in a kids’sci-fi series that chronicles the adventures of an unlikely team of heroes who join forces in a quest to save the universe from evil.Led by the fearless alien operative, Zixx Phunkee Zee,Adam and Griff are two 12-year-old boys who use their game smarts to battle in the Keep—a third dimension labyrinth, which operates like a game.
Zixx grudgingly befriends the two boys and mentors Adam as he navigates the rough waters of creeping adolescence. It isn’t easy being tutored by a girl, especially when she’s an extraterrestrial, but in Adam's mixed-up life he'll take what he can get.Besides,Zixx just may know something about Adam’s missing mother and if her disappearance is connected to the game.
