CTV, Global & otrher channel cannot make or sell copies of any of their programs. They only purchase rights to broadcast , therefore if they make or sell copies, they would be in violation of their broadcast contracts and they would effectively be stealing from their suppliers. Canadian made programs generally re-air. US series such as ER go into repeats during the summer months and intermittently throughout the regular season, this is a good time to get caught up on missed episodes.

Of course, Video/DVD sets make their way to a store near you, and can be available as quickly as one year after the original broadcast date.
