The single-biggest multi-platform launch in the history of Canadian television will unfold when the highly anticipated MTV brand debuts tomorrow, March 21, 2006 at 6 p.m. ET. The all-Canadian multi-platform strategy was revealed today by Ivan Fecan, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bell Globemedia and CEO for CTV Inc., together with Susanne Boyce, CTV President of Programming and Chair of the CTV Media Group and Brad Schwartz, Senior Vice President and General Manager for MTV in Canada. Bill Roedy, Vice Chairman, MTV Networks and President, MTV Networks International confirmed that CTV’s MTV launch represents the biggest multi-platform launch among all 49 worldwide MTV services comprising the MTV Networks International family.

FOX will launch My Network TV, a new primetime program network scheduled to debut this fall. Fox Television Stations, Inc., and Twentieth Television will operate the new venture. The announcement was made today at a press conference in New York by Peter Chernin, President and Chief Operating Officer, News Corporation; Roger Ailes, Chairman of Fox Television Stations; and Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations.

New Channels: Discovery HD to launch by the end of 2005

CTV Specialty Television Inc. and US-based Discovery Communications announced today that their joint venture application to the CRTC for a new High Definition (HD) specialty channel -- Discovery HD -- has been approved, representing a landmark in Canadian television. Expected to launch before the end of 2005, this Category 2 Digital Specialty Service will be Canada's first 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week High Definition Specialty Service.

New Channels: Allarco - All HD, All Canadian, All the time!

Long-time broadcasting veteran Charles Allard is back before the CRTC this week with a unique premium television offering.

"Our application is based on the premise Canadians want something new - not the same programming offered in pseudo-high definition. Our commitment is to programs made by Canadian producers with true HD technology," said Charles Allard, Allarco Entertainment, President and CEO. "To make sure that happens we will provide additional funding to producers on top of regular fees and financing."
Note: This channel has yet to be approved by the CRTC.
