Canada’s #1 entertainment news program is taking on Canada’s #1 comedy when Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Simon Helberg (Howard), and Kunal Nayyar (Raj) join anchor Ben Mulroney for the half-hour special LIVE AT ETALK: THE BIG BANG THEORY. Just weeks after premiering as Canada’s most-watched show of the Fall with 3.1 million viewers, three of the series’ stars will appear live in the parking lot of CTV’s Toronto HQ at 299 Queen St. W. on Thursday, October 7 at 2 p.m. ET. To add to the excitement, the Barenaked Ladies will perform the program’s theme song, “The History of Everything”, live. BIG BANG fans can be part of LIVE AT ETALK’s live studio audience by emailing etalkaudience@ctv.ca for wristbands.

Astral’s popular children’s channel, Playhouse Disney, will launch today with Rogers Communications Inc. as part of the Rogers Digital VIP cable package on channel 68. Dedicated to providing the best in engaging, educational and entertainment-based series and short-form content for younger children, Playhouse Disney programming will also be available to Rogers subscribers on Family On Demand, launching on October 12, 2010, and on Rogers On Demand Online.

Corus Entertainment and OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network announced that they have finalized a licensing agreement that will enable Corus to add OWN to its portfolio of Canadian specialty services. OWN is set to launch in Canada in early 2011 following the U.S. premiere January 1, 2011. OWN is a multi-platform media company designed to entertain, inform, and inspire people to live their best lives.

With the first week of fall premieres now complete, Global’s primetime lineup secured 3 of the Top 5 shows for Adults 18-49, the most coveted demographic by advertisers. Fan favourites House, Survivor and Glee not only fuelled the network’s domination of the country’s Top 5 ranking nationally, they also helped bolster the Top 10 in the three major markets.

As the Fall TV season settles in, CASTLE wrote a new chapter Monday night on CTV when it won the 10 p.m. hour over HAWAII FIVE-0 with 1.82 million viewers on CTV. CASTLE outperformed HAWAII FIVE-0 (Global/CBS, 1.7 million) by 11% in the much coveted A18-34 demo, powering itself to an overall 6% win in total viewers across Canada.
