Fall Highlights: Bell Media Announces Initial Fall 2011 Premiere Dates for CTV and CTV Two

With just over three weeks to go before the most anticipated month in television, Bell Media announced today the first wave of Fall 2011 premiere dates for CTV and its sister network CTV Two (previously /A\). Laying the ground work for another #1 Fall Season, launch dates for seven new and 12 hit returning series on CTV, and six new and eight returning hits on CTV Two are confirmed, headlined by the hottest new competition series on the planet, Simon Cowell’s THE X FACTOR. The new recruits join the new Fall schedules already brimming with established Top 20 hits.

The final three episodes of the second season of CTV’s hit original series THE LISTENER air in a prime Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET timeslot beginning August 17 on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Averaging 1.08 million viewers season-to-date, THE LISTENER has seen an incredible growth of 17% among total viewers in Season 2. A third season of the series was recently ordered by CTV from Shaftesbury.

Following the Top 20 Performance show, the votes were tallied and it was announced tonight on CTV that LAUREN Lyn (24), a Salsa dancer from Toronto, ON and RODRIGO Basurto (26), a Hip-Hop dancer from Toronto, ON would be saying goodbye to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA. The results were revealed live during tonight’s broadcast after host Leah Miller revealed the three couples with the lowest number of votes. The 18 remaining dancers will take to the stage on Monday, July 25 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV (go to ctv.ca to confirm local listings).

CTV announced today that production is underway in Toronto on STAY WITH ME, pilot for a new legal drama starring Ontario-native Andrea Roth (BLUE BLOODS, RESCUE ME). The pilot is produced and written by the Gemini award-winning producing team Suzette Couture and Pierre Sarrazin (DOOMSTOWN, THE MAN WHO LOST HIMSELF). Production continues through July 26. The announcement comes as production wraps in Toronto and new cast members are confirmed for another new CTV pilot, SAVING HOPE.

During last night’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Top 22 Performance show, it was revealed that Moses Layco, a 26-year-old contemporary dancer suffered a shoulder ligament injury during rehearsals and therefore had to withdraw from the competition. MOSES, the first competitor from Manitoba in SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA history, sustained the injury just days before his first scheduled performance on the show. Replacing Moses in the Season 4 Top 22 is Adam Asselin-Rioux, a 21-year-old contemporary dancer from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC, who performed a New Disco routine with partner GEISHA Chin tonight.

Ratings: Team One Survives Scare as FLASHPOINT Season 4 Premiere Wins the Night With 1.4 Million Viewers on CTV

The Season 4 premiere and cliff-hanger resolution of FLASHPOINT on CTV was the most-watched program overall on Canadian television Friday night with 1.4 million viewers. Up 27% among A18-34 from its Season 3 premiere, the brand-new episode also won the night with the key demos A18-34, A18-49, and A25-54. FLASHPOINT was the top entertainment program of the day in Toronto and Vancouver, and saw increases compared to its Season 3 premiere in both markets with A18-49 and A25-54. In Vancouver alone, FLASHPOINT increased by double and triple digits.
