#FAQMP is a weekly political affairs discussion series that uses social networking platforms to let viewers collaborate with the producers in the creation of the program.

Programming Highlights: ichannel documentary Milk War earns coveted James Beard Foundation Award

The original ichannel documentary Milk War has received a prestigious James Beard Foundation Award.

The hour-long film, which was produced for ichannel by Stornoway Communications and The Path to Gimli, earned top honours for best Television Special/Documentary in the Broadcast Media category at the James Beard Foundation Awards gala in New York on May 6.

Sex worker Val Scott isn’t very happy these days. On Friday November 13th she tells @issue host Kevin O’Keefe that Canadian law makes prostitution a dangerous profession and perpetuates violence against women. Scott, executive director of Sex Professionals of Canada, along with sex workers Terri-Jean Bedford and Amy Lebovitch are fighting in Ontario’s Superior Court of Justice to strike down Canada’s laws around prostitution.

Programming Highlights: iChannel Wants You To Come Out

To celebrate National Coming Out Day on October 11th, ichannel will broadcast several programs about the struggle lesbians and gay men have for equal rights in Canada and around the world. On Friday, October 2nd ichannel’s flagship current affairs show @issue exposes the controversy over the ban on blood donations from men who’ve had sex with men. The show profiles Adrian Lomaga who was shocked to learn about the ban when he went to donate blood as a law student at McGill. Now a lawyer, he has a fifteen hundred lawsuit against Hema Quebec, the provinces blood agency. Also featured in the show is John Plater who is in favour of keeping the ban. He got Hepatitis C and HIV from a blood transfusion. A representative from Canadian Blood Services takes part in the discussion.
