| Programming Highlights: The Mentalist Joins CTV's Midseason Schedule January 4 |

CTV's announced today that the most buzzed about new drama series of the fall, THE MENTALIST joins the network's white-hot midseason schedule, Sundays at 10 p.m. ET, beginning January 4 following DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES at 9 p.m. ET (check ctv.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Starring Golden Globe Award nominee Simon Baker, THE MENTALIST follows Patrick Jane (Baker), a former celebrity psychic-turned-California police detective who uses his skills of observation and expertise at reading people to solve crimes. Premiering last September on 'A', THE MENTALIST quickly became one of the most talked-about new drama series of the year. Meanwhile, in the U.S., the crime drama is the undisputed #1 new show of the season, and last week, catapulted to the top spot in all of television ahead of ratings juggernauts CSI and GREY'S ANATOMY.

CTV calls the TV court to order with the compelling new legal drama series RAISING THE BAR, Fridays at 10 p.m. ET premiering Friday, January 9 following the return of all-new episodes of the hit series FLASHPOINT at 9 p.m. ET (check CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). The one-hour drama, created by 10-time Emmy® Award-winning producer Steven Bochco (L.A. LAW, NYPD BLUE) and professor/writer David Feige, follows a group of young lawyers who work on opposite sides of the law – the public defender’s office and the district attorney’s office. Starring a strong, Canadian cast including Currie Graham (WOULD BE KINGS, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES), Gloria Reuben (ER) and Jonathan Scarfe (ER), the series looks beyond the courtroom battles to the relationships between former law school classmates who have become professional adversaries. Premiering Wednesday, January 7 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times), OF MURDER AND MEMORY is an Original CTV movie inspired by Canadian author Linda Spalding’s involvement in the murder trial of a presumably innocent woman in Hawaii. Spalding’s real-life experiences and guilty conscience led her to write a novel about the case, entitled, Who Named the Knife. Bringing the story from the pages to small screen is a star-studded cast including Annabeth Gish (BROTHERHOOD), Chandra West (JOHN FROM CINCINNATI), Hugh Dillon (FLASHPOINT), Gabriel Hogan (RENT-A-GOALIE) and Maury Chaykin (ENTOURAGE).

Girls with a passion for fashion and dreams of jumpstarting their modelling career have six days left to apply for CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. Deadline for applications is Monday, December 22, 2008. More than 2,000 applications from across the country have been submitted to date. FLASHPOINT, the hit CTV original series that climbed to the height of the ratings charts in both Canada and the U.S. this past summer, returns to the CTV schedule this winter on Friday, January 9 at 9 p.m. ET on CTV. The return of the Canadian series will provide a lead-in to the series premiere of Stephen Bocho’s new legal drama RAISING THE BAR at 10 p.m. ET. Visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times and catch up on demand on previously aired FLASHPOINT episodes. Production of the new episodes begins in January in Toronto. Colm Feore (TRUDEAU, Paycheck) and Wendy Crewson (REGENESIS, HUNT FOR JUSTICE) guest star in the next new episode (Jan. 9), joining series regulars Enrico Colantoni, Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson and David Paetkau.

CTV revealed a midseason schedule today starring the hottest series on television. The schedule officially kicks off the week of January 5 with a new Monday night comedy block; the move of FRINGE, one of this fall’s biggest hits, to CTV on Tuesday, January 6; and the return of the hit CTV original series FLASHPOINT on Friday, January 9. Anchoring it all is the #1 television program in the country, AMERICAN IDOL, which returns with a four-hour, two-night, eighth season premiere on Tuesday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 14 at 8 p.m. ET. New to the schedule is the legal drama RAISING THE BAR, beginning Friday, January 9 from Emmy-Award winner Steven Bochco (NYPD BLUE, HILL STREET BLUES, LA LAW) and starring Canadians Currie Graham, Gloria Reuben and Jonathan Scarfe.

The season finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA was watched by a record 1.66 million viewers, the most ever for the series, preliminary data from BBM Nielsen Media Research confirms. The thrilling two-hour finale peaked at 1.9 million viewers when 24-year-old Longueuil, QC dancer Nico Archambault was presented with a cheque for $100,000, the keys to a brand new, 2009 Mercedes-Benz C230 and was named Canada’s Favourite Dancer. In all, more than four million viewers tuned in to some part of the finale, which was the most-watched program on Canadian television last night in its timeslot.

Canada has watched him waltz, hip-hop and salsa and following tonight’s gripping season finale, CTV congratulates NICO Archambault, who was named Canada’s first-ever Favourite Dancer on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA. Host Leah Miller announced live that NICO, a 24-year-old Contemporary and Hip-Hop dancer from Montréal received the majority of the more than three million votes cast during the countrywide poll on Wednesday night and would claim the title of Canada’s Favourite Dancer and the grand prize of $100,000 and a 2009 C230 Mercedes-Benz.

CTV announced today it is looking for CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. Recruitment starts today for competitors for the third cycle of the 2007 Gemini winner for Best Reality Program or Series, which will air for the first time on CTV in 2009. In a program first, CANADA’S NEXT TOP MODEL hopefuls have the option of submitting their application packages online at the series’ all-new website, model.ctv.ca. Applications are being received now through December 22, 2008. Thousands will apply, but only 10 women will compete on-air for an incredible grand prize that includes a $100,000 beauty contract.

| Production news: Canadian Broadcaster Partners with Fox Television Studios and Omni Film for New Drama Series Defying Gravity |

CTV, along with Vancouver’s Omni Film Productions Limited and Fox Television Studios, jointly announced today they will partner on a new, one-hour Canadian drama series, DEFYING GRAVITY. Executive produced by series creator and award-winning writer/producer James Parriott (GREY’S ANATOMY, UGLY BETTY) and Michael Edelstein (DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES), DEFYING GRAVITY is a Canadian/U.S. co-venture that will air in Canada on CTV and SPACE, in the United Kingdom on BBC and in Germany on ProSieben. Starring Ron Livingston (BAND OF BROTHERS, Office Space), production begins on 13, one-hour episodes in Vancouver, British Columbia in early 2009. Casting is currently underway for a Canadian female lead to join Livingston. Canadian television director David Straiton (HOUSE, LIFE) has signed on to direct the series’ first episode.

CTV announced today the order of a new one-hour original Canadian drama series, THE BRIDGE. Based on the insights of veteran insider and outspoken former Toronto police union head Craig Bromell, CTV has ordered 11, one-hour episodes, following the production of a two-hour pilot shot in Toronto last summer. THE BRIDGE provides an unflinching look at the struggle street cops face as they not only battle criminals – but also their own bosses – in order to protect society and, ultimately, themselves.
