U.S. politicians invoke the Almighty so often that it's hard not to picture his robed and bearded personage behind the mighty desk in the Oval Office. When did it become obligatory for Presidents to end every speech with the words "God bless America"? Why do so many Americans believe that their country enjoys the Lord's special favour? These are questions that have long fascinated award-winning Canadian broadcast journalist Ralph Benmergui. In God Bless America, a new six-part documentary series for VisionTV, he visits our southern neighbour to learn how and why religious faith has come to play such an important role in the political life of the United States.

| Fall Highlights: VisionTV Unveils 2008-2009 Programming Highlights |

VisionTV kicks off its 20th anniversary season in September with a pair of programming events that demonstrate the scope of the channel’s multi-faith mission: a week-long series of specials on Islam – including the Canadian premiere of The Koran (see below) – to mark the beginning of Ramadan, and another week of specials devoted to Judaism, timed to coincide with the start of the Jewish High Holidays.
Other programming events in 2008-2009 will include a week of programming on the power and persistence of religious cults, and a lineup of outstanding Christmas specials for the entire family.
